Design Details I've Been Loving Lately

As a designer, inspiration has a funny way of showing up.

Sometimes it's in a walk through a craft store. Sometimes it's buried in an old book. Other times it's a random Pinterest rabbit hole that somehow turns into twenty open tabs and a brand new idea.

Lately, I've noticed myself coming back to the same handful of design details over and over again. They're all very different, but each one brings so much texture, personality, and character to a design.

Here are a few things I've been especially drawn to lately.

Gems

There's something about adding gems that instantly makes a piece feel more playful and handcrafted. They catch the light, add dimension, and create little moments of surprise that make a design feel special.

Whether they're used subtly or become the focal point, gems add just enough sparkle without overwhelming the overall design.

Ink Bleeds

Perfect lines have their place, but lately I've been loving the beauty of imperfect edges.

Ink bleeds create a softer, more organic look that feels less polished in the best way possible. They remind us that not everything has to be perfectly crisp to be beautiful.

It's one of those little details that adds warmth and personality.

Cut Outs

Cut outs instantly add movement and depth to a design.

Instead of everything feeling flat, layering cut paper or irregular shapes creates something that feels tactile, almost like you could reach out and pick it up.

I especially love mixing clean layouts with imperfect cut edges. It creates a nice balance between structured and handmade.

Tinfoil

This one might sound a little unexpected, but I've been loving the look of tinfoil in creative projects lately.

It catches light in such an interesting way, adding texture, depth, and subtle reflections that make a design feel more dynamic. It's proof that sometimes the simplest materials can create the most interesting details.

Sun-Dyed Prints

There's something really special about letting nature be part of the creative process.

Sun-dyed prints have these beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns that you simply can't recreate digitally. Every piece comes out a little different, which is part of what makes them so interesting.

I love how they add softness, texture, and an organic quality that feels both modern and timeless.

Always Collecting Inspiration

One of my favorite parts of being a designer is that inspiration is everywhere. The smallest detail, a texture, a material, or even an unexpected color combination can spark a completely new idea.

These are just a few of the things that have been inspiring me lately, and I have a feeling they'll continue finding their way into future projects.
